Research In Motion, the maker of Blackberry, recently announced that the Playbook will come preinstalled with Music Store. It will come installed on the tablet at launch in the US and Canada, with other countries later in 2011.
The music store is operated by 7digital, a company half owned by HMV Group. They currently have about 13 million tracks and users can browse, preview and purchase tracks from its vast, fully licensed music catalogue.
Basically RIM is taking themselves as a direct competitor now to the iTunes store on the iPad. They also said that prices for PlayBook users will match the prices on 7digital.com, with individual tracks and albums priced in a customer’s local currency.
