Most iPhone owners are on Instagram. The ever so popular photo sharing app tied to social networks which applies filter to all your masterpiece. Then came SocialCam. The equavailent app but made for video sharing.
Guess which media type is not ‘shared’ in social apps like this yet; music.
This is where SoundTracking comes in. It’s a new app for iPhone which aims at giving you the tools to share the “soundtrack of your life” and discover new songs shared by your friends, directly from your iPhone. (aka Instagram for music)
So upon launching the app, you will be prompted to connect to your social networks; Facebook, Twitter & Foursquare. Once done, you will be greeted by the ‘feed’ aka timeline which lists all the Sountracks shared by your friends. You can like, love and comment on each of them.
To publish your own soundtrack (or to tell your friends what you are listening to at the moment) just tap the center button at the bottom which will let you pick 3 methods in discovering music. Search for music, use the mic to detect what’s playing from a music source around you or directly from you iPod app. Once done, details will be filled automaticalled and you will get to preview your soundtrack. Post it and it will appear in the feed.
They also have a section which features trending music by location. Looks a lot like the ‘popular’ section in instagram eh?
Here’s a video of the CEO of SoundTracking demo-ing the app.
Try it now if you are into these social sharing thingymajig.
