The most used and highly well-known turn by turn navigation solution, Garmin is now available for Windows Phone 7. Though it comes in an alternative version called Garmin StreetPilot. The app shares similar features that can be used with Garmin GPS personal navigators.
Garmin StreetPilot requires a data connection like EDGE or 3G in order to download maps into the device. This is sort of a solution for people travelling to areas without data signal as the maps can be viewed again once downloaded beforehand.
It offers users voice-prompted, turn-by-turn directions including street names, real-time traffic updates (no additional cost), integrated Local Search and millions of points of interest.
Other interesting features of the application include:
– Speed limits for most major roads;
– Lane assist with junction view for complicated interchanges;
– Address book integration to navigate to contacts;
– Current weather conditions and forecast.
The price for this app might pull you back thought. $39.99 is quite pricey in my opinion but then it’s a one-time-payment and does not incur any monthly charges so I guess it’s still fine?
Garmin StreetPilot is out now on Windows Phone 7 Marketplace.
