‘Hero Academy’ For iOS. A Super Addictive Online Strategy Game [video]

This is a game we’ve never put down ever since it was installed on the iPad. We’ve played many games throughout the years and this has to be one of the best in gameplay, graphic and replayability.

Enter a world of swords and magic, and challenge friends old and new to a contest of tactics and skill. From the human Council to the mysterious Dark Elves, every team needs a fearless captain to lead them to victory. Only those that leverage their team’s strengths and capitalize on their opponent’s weaknesses will protect their crystal and win the day. The Academy extends a warm welcome to all – whether they’re already heroes, or simply heroes in training!

This game is Robot Entertainment‘s first offering for the iOS platform and who knew that even their first one is so well received and has been the discussion topic among iOS gamers worldwide.

The gameplay is quite simple. You represent a team and you place characters from your team on a board-like fighting ground to battle with an opponent. Depending on what team you represent, every character has different ability and skillset. You need to protect your crystals as well. If the opponent destroys all of them, you are dead.

As this is an online game, you cannot play it without a data connection. When you create a new game, you can either search a username, pick a random opponent from around the world or invide a Facebook friend. This screen above shows the list of ‘room’ aka ‘games’ you are currently having. When it is your turn, the room will appear on top of the list.

The game detects which of our Facebook friends are playing Hero Academy and lists them on this screen so we can invite them for a game straight away. There are also option to announce on Twitter and Facebook as well.

There are in-app purchase options in the game. When you start, there is only 1 team for your to use; Human Council. With only $1.99 you can buy new teams like Dwarfs, Dark Elves and others. We feel the the price to purchase teams is alright and the game does not force you to pay in order to progress in your game, which is good.
