Maxis one of the biggest telco in Malaysia launched the highly anticipated iPhone 5 to Malaysians last night at Capsquare, an IT mall in Kuala Lumpur.
The event was held outside of the mall at 7pm but some iPhone fans have already started queuing since 10am in the morning.
With the launch of the iPhone 5, Maxis announced a brand new plan called the ‘iValue 50‘. With a monthly fee of RM50, users get 200 mins, 1GB data, 100 SMS and the price for iPhone 5 go as low as RM2079. With the launch of this new plan, Maxis touted that everyone can now own an iPhone.
They have also launched a new cloud storage service called ‘Loker‘. Every user now gets a 10GB free storage space in the cloud which can be used to sync contacts, videos, pics and more and sharable with friends.

The iPhone 5 comes in 2 colours. Black/slate and white/silver. Maxis have placed it all over the venue (locked of course) for users to experience it before getting their hands on one.
At midnight, the crowd rushes into the consumer hall and the first batch of people filled all the 45 counters in no time. They were also given this shirt that says “First to own the iPhone 5”. The crowd continued to fill CapSquare last night and ended at 4am.
