Foursquare For Android Gets Updated w Easier Access To Places, Friends & Lists

The popular social location app, Foursquare gets a big update today, particularly for the Android platform. In this new version, the guys at 4sq added three big changes to the app, all around making it easier to find the best stuff nearby as soon as you open it up.

1. Finding places with Explore is easier than ever.
The app now has a smoother search experience and Explore has been moved to the top of the home screen to make it easy to quickly find a place. Tap the search bar to find “nachos,” “Mexican,” or “margaritas,” or browse categories like coffee, food, and nightlife.

2. Quickly see friends and great places nearby.
When you open up the app, you’ll see a map up top that shows friends who are checked in nearby, along with places we think you’ll like. Tap on the map to expand it, and zoom around to see even more of your friends.

3. Get to your to-do list and other essentials with the left hand drawer.
Instead of three tabs at the bottom of the app, you’ll now have a drawer (tap the top left corner of the screen) where you can easily get to your profile, lists, and settings.
