At the Facebook event just moments ago, Kevin Systrom, founder of Instagram announced that video recording is now available in their latest update of the app.
Today, we’re thrilled to introduce Video on Instagram and bring you another way to share your stories. When you go to take a photo on Instagram, you’ll now see a movie camera icon. Tap it to enter video mode, where you can take up to fifteen seconds of video through the Instagram camera.
The interface looks the same as the current Instagram app, with an addition of a video button on the right side of the capture button.
Switching to video recording allows users to record 15 seconds of video with the ability to pause and continue at different times so scenes can be joined into a full video. They also introduced 13 new filters that is exclusive to the video recording module in the app.
So what does this mean for your content? Nothing’s different from photos. We’re still committed to making sure you have control over all of your content. Only the people who you let see your photos will be able to see your videos. And as with photos, you own your videos. You can learn more about Video on Instagram—including our new Cinema feature.
‘Cinema’ basically means stabilisation feature so your videos don’t appear wobbly and unprofessional.
Instagram update should be available on the Apple Appstore and Google PlayStore soon, if not now. 🙂 Keep checking!
