You’ve seen the push-to-talk feature on WeChat, LINE and Talkbox before… now it comes to WhatsApp!
We are releasing Voice Messages on all of our platforms simultaneously. We worked very hard to make sure that iPhone and Android devices have perfectly working Voice Messages functionality, and we put extra effort into making sure that BlackBerry, Nokia and Windows Phone users can enjoy the same rich and powerful Voice Messaging experience.
To send a Voice Message, simply tap and hold on the Voice Message button. The Voice Message button is a microphone icon that replaces the send button on the text input bar.
While recording a Voice Message, you can slide left to cancel instantly.
After recording a Voice Message, you can tap the X icon to cancel the Voice Message.
When your contact has listened to the Voice Message, the microphone icon will turn blue
TIP: When playing an audio message, place it to your ear and it will play via the earpiece instead of loudspeaker.
If you currently have the latest version of WhatsApp on your phone, Audio Messaging feature should magically appear.
