Nokia’s 1st Android Device, Nokia X Launches In Malaysia

Just 1 week ago I got to touch the X family of devices at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona and now the first member of the series is launching in Malaysia. Nokia X, the first Android device with dual-sim support from the mobile giant sports a 4-inch screen and comes in multiple vibrant colours, will be on sale in Malaysia next week.

I was at the launch event last night at Nexus, Bangsar South and the announcement also includes the price. Nokia X will be made available to everyone in the country at only RM399. It also comes in 5 colours; Green, yellow, red, white and black.

– Main camera sensor: 3 MP
– Display size: 4”
– Processor name: Qualcomm Snapdragon™ S4
– Maximum talk time (3G): 10.5h
– Maximum music playback time: 26h
– Photo sharing: Twitter;Facebook;Send as email attachment;Share over Bluetooth
– Social apps: Facebook;Twitter;WeChat;Viber;Skype

With the launch of Nokia X, Nokia hopes to bring this device to the youth and also first smartphone adopters in the country and hope to elevate them nearer to the Lumia series when they upgrade to a better phone in the future.

The X runs on Android but Nokia has totally re-skinned it to look very much like the Lumia devices. With tiles and icons that looks like those on the Windows Phone, there’s no denying that Nokia is trying to connect these devices to the smart phone siblings under the umbrella.

Along with the exciting price of RM399, every person who buys it will get 1 month of free Skype calls to mobiles and landlines + 10GB of cloud storage on OneDrive, Microsoft’s own cloud storage system.
