Apple refreshed the 12-Inch MacBook. Now there’s a good news & a bad news.

Not sure if you know that Apple actually launched a very very very thin Macbook last year which was only 13mm thick and sports a 12-inch display. The launch last year made a big hoo-haa as it only came with 1 port; the USB-C. It also didn’t have enough power for video editing or any other hardware crunching tasks. So basically it was meant for people who are on the go who needs a simple laptop for basic stuff like word processing, web browsing, video playing, etc.

Today, the company has refreshed the 12-inch Macbook and it now comes in Rose Gold.

The good news is that the new colour looks really good and to those who can afford, you can now own a pinkish looking Macbook.

Featuring an all-metal unibody enclosure, MacBook is now available in four aluminum finishes — gold, silver, space gray, and for the first time on a Mac, a gorgeous rose gold. With a stunning 12-inch Retina display, highly responsive full-size keyboard, Force Touch trackpad, versatile USB-C port and all-day battery life in a design that is just 2 pounds and 13.1 mm thin, MacBook is the future of the notebook.

Now the bad news. 🙂

See that lonely-looking USB-C port? Yup. It is still very lonely in the new version. That means, we still have to struggle to plug a USB adapter to it in order to attach/charge all our other gadgets like the iPhone.

The internals have been updated too actually. The Macbook now comes with an Intel Skylake Core M processor that comes in either 1.1Ghz, 1.2Ghz or 1.3Ghz dual-core which can be Turbo-boosted.
In other words, they are only 10-20% faster, which is not obvious to any normal users.

The Macbook now costs RM5.5K for the 1.1Ghz model and RM6.7K for the 1.2Ghz version.
