Apple to announce iMessage for Android during WWDC this month?

MacDailyNews has just reported that Apple will announce iMessage for Android during next week’s WWDC 2016 keynote.

The source notes that plans are constantly in flux leading up to Apple keynotes and the timing of the announcement could change, but that the iMessage instant messenger service would “definitely” be coming to Android this year.

As we all know, currently iMessage is a closed platform, whereby it can only be used among iOS and Mac devices. If the Android version is announced, Apple may have the chance to grab a slice of the mobile messenger pie and make it easier for users to switch from Android to iOS.

Let’s all wait and see if the company will announce this next week.
